Congratulations to Riley Deyo, Zoe Grant, Sophie James, Lilly Kirk, Joseph Mazzola, Dhriti Pentela, Harini Tirumala, and Shannon Tabeek. _________________ We would also love to extend much deserved kudos to all our undergraduate and graduate students achieving amazing things: Undergrad Kudos: Harini Tirumala and Lilly Kirk received honors at the WGS grad ceremony in May. Meagan McColloch interned this spring with Attorney General Chris Carr in spring and interned on Capitol Hill as part of the Honors in Washington Program this summer. Lilly Kirk and Teresa Lu participated in a research trip to New York City as a part of a Mellon-supported project on food scarcity and urban gardens. Grad Kudos: Sophia Flemming was nominated for a 2025 Transfer Advocate Award, given to someone who contributed greatly to the success of a transfer student and made a positive impact on their UGA experience. She was also awarded a Building Southern Intersectional Futures grant for research related to her dissertation, and a WAGG grant for Zines as Black Feminist Praxis. Kathleen Hurlock taught for UGA’s Cortona program and UGA’s Oxford program. She also has a publication titled “Freak Feminism: On Andrea Dworkin” forthcoming in the Cleveland Review of Books. Alexis Lygoumenos taught for UGA’s Oxford program and UGA’s Cortona program. Ms. Lygoumenos was also a recipient of a Building Southern Intersectional Futures grant related to her dissertation work, and presented a talk titled “Stapled Subversion: Zine History and the Epistemology of the Marginalized” at the Oxford Education Research Symposia. Jess Martinez and Vanessa Raditz presented at the 2024 NWSA conference in Detroit.
