This week, we welcome Saifa Tazrin, WGS Graduate Teaching Assistant and PhD candidate in Sociology. Ms. Tazrin will be giving a talk titled "The Politics of Calling Her a 'Slut': The Gendered Policing of Politically Active Women."

Saifa Tazrin is a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Georgia, pursuing her dissertation research on the important inquiry of how women's bodies become battlegrounds in the gendered political contexts in post-autocratic postcolonial contexts. She also looks into how AI-driven political narratives on social media give rise to online and offline mob-violence in the South Asian political context. Her research interest lies in Gender-based Violence, Political Sociology, and Feminist Research Methods.
