Friday, February 22 2019, 12:20pm Miller Learning Center 250 Special Information: FREE, open to all, FYO approved Friday Speaker Series "Let's Netflix and Chill": How College Students Negotiate and Communicate About Sex Despite innovations in prevention program development, the rate of sexual assault has remain unchanged for the last ten years, with 18 to 25% of all college women experiencing a sexual assault. It is imperative prevention programming target and change problematic perspectives, including those about consent and health relationships. This talk will focus on qualitative data gathered from 45 college students (20 men and 25 women) that sought to understand their attitudes and beliefs about sexual assault. I will discuss what I learned about how college students define consent, how they ensure they have received it and the norms and gender expectations that shape their beliefs about sexual interactions.
