Paralegal at Planned Parenthood HOW WERE YOU AFFILIATED WITH WGS? I majored in Women's Studies. TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT WORK (PAID OR UNPAID!) I'm currently a paralegal at Planned Parenthood's national impact litigation team, working on cases challenging abortion bans throughout the country. HOW HAS YOUR WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES EXPERIENCE SHAPED YOUR LIFE AND WORK POST-GRADUATION? Women's studies provided a lot of the foundation for how I thought about reproductive justice and justice broadly, a perspective which I carry with me while working at Planned Parenthood and advocating for reproductive rights. Women's studies trained me to ask questions like "who's at the table?" and "who's being left out?" and how to think about being more inclusive and equitable in the work that I do. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES FROM YOUR TIME IN WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES AT UGA? COURSES, PROFESSORS, EVENTS? Taking Introduction to Feminist Theories with Dr. Herles (of course!). I really enjoyed all of my courses with the women's studies institute, mainly because of the robust class discussions with my fellow peers, so it's hard to pick favorites. I also liked the classes I took from my other majors that overlapped with women's studies, such as my classes with Dr. Haire and Dr. Gallagher. ANY ADVICE FOR CURRENT WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES STUDENTS (GRADUATE OR UNDERGRADUATE)? Women's studies is so interdisciplinary so it's good to go into the major with a fleshed out, specific idea of how you want to use it in your career. Be friends with your classmates! They're some of the coolest people at UGA!
